I’m sorry for the lack of posts lately. I have been traveling a lot to my hometown and my parents new home. I think they are finally starting to settle in. I’ve also been dealing with the recovery of a crashed computer. Fortunately, I had everything backed up. I had to reformat the hard drive and have gradually been recovering everything I need. I’m taking this opportunity to do some organizing. Before all the moving and the computer crash, we had a pretty big hail storm. The morning after the storm I found this bird in my driveway. It was not moving and I thought it was dead. When I returned home for the day, I discovered that it had moved. I went to check things out and decided that it was wounded but definitely alive. It had lost its left eye. It might have had further injury, it could not really fly, but that might have been due to the change in vision. I was able to relocate it closer to the house to protect it overnight and feed it some bird seed. I wasn’t sure if it would survive the night but it did. So the next day I took it to the Oklahoma City Animal Shelter. The WildCare Foundation picks up injured wildlife there every day. When I arrived, about 30 minutes before pickup, there were boxes and boxes of injured birds. I hope they were able to rehabilitate it. It was a beautiful bird.
I think I’ve mentioned before that I’m a bit of a Dr. Pepper addict. I share this addiction with one of my co-workers at my part-time job. I had told him about Dublin Dr. Pepper, how they use cane sugar instead of high fructose corn syrup. I had always wanted to try some but had never had any. Yesterday he told me of the lawsuit that had closed down the Dublin plant. I was certain that meant I’d never get to taste this elusive beverage. Then a box arrived for him at the office yesterday and he surprised me with my very own bottle! It was fabulous. If you are a Dr. Pepper fan, I recommend trying it before they are all gone. He bought it on Amazon. If you can’t get your hands on any, I also recommend Blue Sky Dr. Becker. It’s even sweeter than the Dublin Dr. Pepper. To me the Dublin is just slightly sweeter than regular Dr. Pepper. Dr. Becker tastes like a fountain Dr. Pepper that is heavy on syrup.

I’m bummed that the Thunder didn’t pull out a win last night, but I’m pleased that we made it this far and can’t wait for next year. I have no doubt that this team will someday win multiple champsionships. I was also very impressed with the way the team(s) handled themselves after the game; it was an impressive show of good sportsmanship. How awesome is this photo of Guila Shell sporting her Harden beard?
Well that’s it for today. It’s going to be a hot one this weekend. Hopefully not too hot to get a little work done in the yard. What are your plans for the weekend? Have a great one!
