Friday Five

Wow. Things have been pretty busy around here. It’s been very exciting to receive quite a few orders in my store, and extra stressful due to the very noticeable slowdown in shipping times. I’m learning lots of lessons for next year! I’m also starting to be a little extra stressed out because I don’t have all my gifts for Christmas and there’s only a week left! Here are a few things that I have been enjoying:

Course Horse via Cup of Jo

To quote Charlene Stillfield of Designing Women, “I love knowledge, in fact I yearn for it.” I know, I think I’ve quoted this line before. It’s a favorite. If I lived in New York, I would be all over Course Horse. I would take The DIY Printing Workshop, this US Sailing Basic Keelboat Course, Italian, Read Micro-Expressions, and maybe even this High Falls class. Probably not the High Falls class, unless I was in training for The Amazing Race.

All Posters

Effortless Style recently did a post on Movie Posters en Francaise. I thought it would be fun to look for movie posters in other languages for some of my favorite old movies. That Touch of Mink and The Thin Man are my favorites; but I didn’t find anything that I loved. I did find Philadelphia Story in JapaneseSpanish, in German, and in Swedish. And High Society in German. Very interesting.

If you aren’t watching Community, you should be. This is my favorite scene from the Christmas episode. Each member of the study group is trying to resist the temptation to join the Glee Club. Pierce uses these kids and song to get to Shirley.  If more people don’t start watching the show, it’s probably not going to survive. So I’m begging you to watch!

I have been having trouble getting into a book lately, my last book club book was too dark for this time of year. I needed something light and fun. Audible sent me an invitation for a free trial so I took them up on it and have been listening to Emily and Einstein. It’s a feel good story, perfect for this time of year. It’s been great to be able to listen to a book while I work on orders. And I love the Audible iPhone App; it makes it so easy to download and listen.

I have heard nothing but good things about Downton Abbey and a friend recently told me that PBS would soon begin airing the second season. So I decided I better get busy and get caught up. Last night while I was working on some projects, I watched part of the first episode on Netflix streaming. So far I’m enjoying it. I would be enjoying it more if my internet connection would quit flaking out!

So what about you? Are you ready for the holidays?
