In the Garden

One of my favorite creative outlets is my garden. It’s amazing how spending a few minutes, or hours, in the dirt can get my creative juices flowing. Some of my best ideas have come to me while in the garden “zone.” Not only does it help bring on the creativity, there’s a great feeling of accomplishment when things come together and look beautiful.

When I moved into my home, the front yard had recently been landscaped, I assume to give the house curb appeal and make the sale. The back yard, on the other hand, had not been touched at all. There were no flower beds, just grass and a few trees. Over the years, I’ve added flower beds and killed off the Bermuda grass, hoping to replace it with Zoysia. Some of the beds are in pretty good shape, but many have never been very pretty. After last summer’s drought, the entire backyard is in pretty bad shape.

Barring a drought, or utility line work, I proclaim that this year I will whip that yard into shape. Over the summer I hope to share some pictures of my growing garden. I might even share some before pictures…but only when I have some beautiful “after” shots. In the mean time, enjoy the above photo taken this weekend.
